The government says inspections of the Boeing 787 “Dreamliner” fuel control switch locking mechanism have not found any abnormality. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on July 27, 2026, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), under its continued airworthiness responsibilities, has directed OEM-level testing of the fuel control switch locking mechanism. The testing is described as being carried out at Boeing/OEM facilities in Seattle.
The development follows an earlier report from Air India. Business Line notes that on February 2, an Air India pilot reported a defect in the fuel control switch of a Boeing 787-8 after operating flight AI132. After the report, the issue is addressed through DGCA-directed examination and OEM-level testing to assess the locking mechanism.
According to the government’s statement, the examination concludes with no abnormality found in the fuel control switch locking mechanism.
