Google has launched “Ask Google Pay,” a new Gemini-powered AI chatbot within the Google Pay app in India, the company announced. The feature is opt-in and adds a conversational assistant designed to help users understand and manage their digital payments. Through the chatbot, users can ask Google Pay to analyse their spending, including examples such as reviewing spending from the previous month. Google says the tool is intended to make it easier for users to monitor their spending patterns.
In addition to spending analysis, Google Pay says the chatbot can explain financial terms. The chatbot supports multiple languages, with NDTV reporting it offers explanations in 10 Indian languages. The rollout also coincides with the debut of a new SBI Card on RuPay, according to the reports. The feature is tied to Google Pay and focuses on UPI-related payment tracking and user financial clarity rather than changing core payment functions.
