The letters ask Kennedy to explain what financial interests, if any, his family has in the settlement and how potential conflicts are being handled.
The effort is led by Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Angela Alsobrooks, Richard Blumenthal, and Andy Kim. The reports note that the lawmakers’ letter is dated July 28 and was sent to Kennedy and/or HHS. The senators’ questions center on transparency regarding any connection his family may have to the settlement terms, including whether any payments could flow to relatives.
