Police in Jamnagar, Gujarat, arrest two people in connection with the killing of Jignesh Dharmeshbhai Mavdiya, who had been missing for about two years. Local reports say Jignesh’s wife, Prithvi Mavdiya, and her alleged partner, Nilesh Mansukhbhai, are accused of poisoning him with cyanide and burying his body beneath a factory floor in the Dared GIDC area.
Investigators allege that the couple maintained a cover story to Jignesh’s family, claiming he had gone to Australia for work and was living there. NDTV reports the family believed he was in Australia for nearly two years. Mint adds that investigators based parts of their case on Prithvi’s confession, in which she reportedly said they killed Jignesh with cyanide and concealed his remains under the factory after fabricating the Australia narrative.
Authorities say they recovered or established details of the burial location during the investigation and have registered and pursued the case following the arrests.
