Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has started implementing full electronic registration for capital market operators as part of efforts to modernise the market and improve regulatory efficiency. According to SEC statements reported by Nigerian outlets, the e-Registration platform is deployed through the Commission’s ePortal and is intended to streamline registration processes for industry participants.
The reports say the move reflects the SEC’s shift toward digitised regulatory workflows for capital market services. By moving the registration process online, the SEC aims to make it easier for operators to complete required steps while supporting faster, more structured regulatory handling.
Both outlets describe the initiative as a “full” e-registration rollout, indicating that the Commission is moving beyond partial digital processes to broader use of its electronic system for capital market operator registration. The SEC’s communication does not change the underlying regulatory requirement for registration, but focuses on how operators access and complete the process through the ePortal.
