Bloomberg reports the senators warn that Apple would risk becoming dependent on an American adversary for critical components if it relies on chips sourced from CXMT Corp. and Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. (YMTC), which are described as blacklisted.
In a related report, 9to5Mac says the senators’ request is directed at Apple CEO Tim Cook and includes a deadline for action. The outlet reports that Apple is being asked to commit by August 21 not to use memory chips from CXMT and YMTC.
