Multiple outlets report that the U.S. has reportedly authorized sales of Nvidia’s H200 AI accelerator chips to roughly 10 Chinese companies. The reports say the approval would allow these firms to acquire the “second-most powerful” H200 model, which is in high demand for advanced AI workloads.
However, Reuters’ reporting, cited by one source, adds an important caveat: Nvidia has not yet made any deliveries of the H200 chips. In other words, while the authorization process appears to have moved forward, the actual shipment of chips has not occurred as of the time of the reports.
