The official handover is scheduled for 10am and will be broadcast live on JAMB’s official social media platforms. The board invited the public to witness the significant leadership transition. Oloyede’s tenure as Registrar expires on July 31, 2026, after two terms during which he introduced major reforms that enhanced transparency, reduced examination malpractice, and substantially increased remittances to the federal government. President Bola Tinubu appointed Prof. Segun Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, as the new Registrar. At nearly 40 years old, Aina will become the youngest person to head the examination body. Aina holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, a Master’s in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University, United Kingdom. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School. With over 15 years of experience advising governments on digital transformation, institutional reforms, and systems design, Aina has consulted for examination bodies including NECO and NABTEB on ICT systems and examination integrity. President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would build on Oloyede’s achievements and further strengthen JAMB’s operations. The ceremony on Friday signals the beginning of a new chapter for Nigeria’s premier tertiary admissions body.
