NEET UG counselling for 2026 is set to introduce multiple reforms aimed at streamlining medical admissions and reducing delays. Across reports, the key change is a new one-time physical reporting framework, intended to limit repeated in-person visits by candidates during the counselling process. The reforms also include technology-based steps such as online document verification. In addition, a digital resignation facility is reported to be part of the plan, designed to simplify changes in candidate participation during counselling.
Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda reviews preparedness of the Medical Counselling Committee, with an emphasis on conducting counselling through a transparent and technology-enabled process. The planned rollout is expected to cover counselling for MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing seats, with the process expected to begin soon. Reports also mention broader measures including enhanced support for PwBD candidates, expanded assessment centres, cybersecurity safeguards, and grievance redressal systems. Nadda’s review indicates these elements are being prepared as part of the counselling framework for the upcoming admission cycle.
