Hasbro, owner of Dungeons & Dragons publisher Wizards of the Coast and backer of several game projects, is reducing its video game ambitions following a $56 million loss. In its latest financial results, the company records a $56 million impairment, reflecting a decline in the value of certain assets. Multiple outlets report that this impairment is linked to Hasbro cancelling several games planned for release in 2028 and beyond, as the company had previously pursued a strategy starting in 2022 to become a major games publisher.

The cancellations are also accompanied by workforce reductions, with outlets noting that developers have been laid off as part of the shift in priorities. While the future lineup is described as thinner after the cancelled titles, Hasbro indicates that some projects are still proceeding. In particular, games including Exodus from Archetype Entertainment and Warlock, described as a Mass Effect-like title and associated with Dungeons & Dragons, are reported as not affected by the cancellations tied to the impairment. Separate titles and timelines may still change, but the reported 2027 releases for Exodus and Warlock remain intact.
