Rep Gadgi says Gbajabiamila signatures in PFIPC letters are correct, except one

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Defence, Yusuf Gadgi, has affirmed that the signatures of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, on letters sent to nine government agencies are genuine and correct.    Gadgi made the clarification during an investigative hearing at the National Assembly into the alleged fraudulent establishment of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) and the appointment of its purported Director General, Adeyemi Adeniyi.   According to the lawmaker, the only questionable signature was the one on Adeniyi’s appointment letter. He stated that signatures on the other official correspondences from the Chief of Staff’s office matched Gbajabiamila’s known hand.    “Letters written by the Office of the Chief of Staff to the National Security Adviser, to Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Office of the Head of the Federal Civil Service, to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to DG of DSS, to the Nigeria Police; nine different letters from the Chief of Staff to the President including some of his former signatures here that I believe are the same,” Gadgi said.   “The only signature that differs is the signature that appointed the fake DG,” he added.    The hearing also received testimony from the Head of Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who disclosed that staff of the PFIPC had approached her officials claiming to be from a new government agency, an occurrence she described as unprecedented since the creation of the Service.    Walson-Jack further revealed that the group led by Adeniyi demanded an official appointment letter for its Chief Executive Officer in line with the supposed Establishment Act.   The scandal has raised serious questions about the operations and legitimacy of the PFIPC, prompting the ongoing parliamentary probe.
