Noida police register a First Information Report (FIR) against Ruchika Singh, a 25-year-old Noida resident, over alleged abusive and indecent remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a NEET-UG protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Multiple reports say a complaint is filed after a video of the protest remarks circulates online. The complainant is identified as Smriti Singh, a Supreme Court advocate residing in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad, who alleges that Singh used objectionable language that undermines the dignity of a constitutional office and disturbs public peace.

Police identify Singh as a resident of Lotus Zing Society in Sector 168, Noida. The case is registered as a “zero FIR” under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including provisions cited for acts involving public mischief and insulting public servants. Because the incident took place in Delhi, the FIR is transferred to the Delhi Police for investigation. Reports also state that police search for Singh, and her occupation is described as working at a salon.
