Production has begun on “Stages,” the directorial debut of Sonoya Mizuno, with cameras now rolling in the U.K. The project was first announced in December and has started assembling an ensemble cast. Reported cast members across outlets include Julie Delpy, Takehiro Hira, Kathryn Hunter, Kate Dickie, and Emma D’Arcy. The film also features additional ensemble talent mentioned in one report. Focus Features has acquired international rights and will distribute the movie through Universal Pictures International. The announcements present “Stages” as a feature-length project led by Mizuno, whose acting credits include roles in “Ex Machina,” “Devs,” “Civil War,” and “House of the Dragon.”
