Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been named in a 15-member India A squad for a tri-nation 50-over series in Sri Lanka, beginning June 9. The other teams in the tournament are Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, with all matches scheduled to be played in Dambulla. India A also takes part in two multi-day 4-day “Tests” in Galle, with the squad for those matches to be announced later.

Both reports describe the squad as a development-focused group, with an average age of around 23 years. Only three pace bowlers—Arshad Khan, Yudhvir Singh, and Yash Thakur—are over 25, and no player in the squad is above 30.

The Business Standard report adds that Sooryavanshi’s inclusion is aimed at giving him an early opportunity to be assessed through the India A/Pathways setup before any senior-team selection for the tour of the United Kingdom (Ireland and England), which starts June 26. The tri-series is scheduled to conclude on June 21. Tilak is named as the side’s leader.
