Apple reports it has reached more than 1.5 billion paid subscriptions across its ecosystem, disclosed during its fiscal third-quarter earnings report. The milestone coincides with what the company describes as a record June-quarter, which it says beats Wall Street expectations. Apple does not provide a detailed breakdown of how many subscriptions come from Apple’s own services versus subscriptions sold through third-party apps via the App Store.
Both outlets note that the number refers to paid subscriptions, not unique subscribers. Apple says a single customer can hold multiple subscriptions and may use several devices across services such as iCloud, Apple Music, and Apple TV, as well as third-party apps. Apple also reports record Services performance for the quarter, with Services revenue totaling about $30.74 billion, up 12% year over year. Revenue growth is reported across multiple categories, including advertising, the App Store, AppleCare, music, video, iCloud, and payment services.
