An Army Major is killed and two Lieutenant-rank officers are injured after a private SUV collides with a camel near the Jaisalmer Military Station in Rajasthan. The incident happens late Thursday night as the officers return from Jaisalmer city to the military station, about 6 km from the district headquarters. Police and officials say a camel appears on the road, and the SUV hits it and overturns multiple times. Reports describe the vehicle overturning about four to five times and skidding or dragging nearly 100 metres before coming to rest near a boundary wall at the station.

The Major, identified as 30-year-old Hamza Arif from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, is trapped in the overturned vehicle and is later taken to the military station, where he dies during treatment. The two injured officers are identified as Lieutenant Abhinav Rathore and Lieutenant Ayushman Gusain, and they are undergoing treatment at the Military Hospital.

A police investigation is underway after a late-night report of the overturned vehicle. The camel dies at the scene. Sources also note the crash occurs at or near a spot where a serious accident happened a year earlier involving a private bus fire.
