A man in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, allegedly fired at his in-laws’ house after a dispute with his wife led her to stay with her parents. The incident reportedly took place in Sojna village under the Tighra police station area. Police said the man, identified as Jogendra Gurjar, argued with his brother-in-law after his wife refused to return, and he allegedly fired one round from a country-made pistol, causing panic in the village.
After police were informed, the man climbed onto the roof with the weapon and refused to come down for nearly two hours. Video of the standoff circulated on social media, showing police and villagers gathered below as officers attempted to persuade him.
Authorities said they coordinated efforts involving police teams from multiple stations to resolve the situation without injury. Police later seized the pistol, disarmed him, and took him into custody. A case has been registered under the Arms Act and other relevant provisions. Investigators are also checking whether the firearm used was licensed or illegal.
