WhatsApp is testing a feature that automatically organizes certain messages from large businesses into a separate folder. According to reports, the app is being developed with the goal of reducing clutter in users’ main chat list, where messages and notifications from large organizations such as banks, airlines, and other businesses can create multiple ongoing threads.
In the test, messages from large businesses are moved to a new folder labeled “Offers & Updates” after a delay. Sources indicate WhatsApp is experimenting with different time windows, with testing durations reported up to 24 hours after the message is received. The feature is designed so users continue to receive messages in the usual way at first, but later see them relocated to the dedicated folder rather than remaining in the primary message list.
The reports describe the change as a work in progress and do not indicate a firm release date or whether the feature will apply to all users or only to specific account configurations. Testing suggests WhatsApp is seeking an approach to help users manage business communications more easily.
