The University Grants Commission (UGC) announces that the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) will soon open for two scholarship schemes: the National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies (NSPG) and the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme for students from the North Eastern Region. UGC states that the portal will be used for submission and processing of applications for both awards. While the outlets report that the NSP opening is expected shortly, UGC has not yet released the specific online application submission schedule, which it says will be notified separately.
UGC also issues instructions to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to manage institutional verification promptly once applications begin arriving on the portal. Institutional Nodal Officers (INOs) are required to verify applications within 15 days of receiving them on the NSP. During this window, the application is to be approved or marked as defective or rejected, with the goal of preventing delays at the institutional level and giving students time to correct errors. Students are advised to keep required documents ready and to monitor updates on the NSP when the application window opens.
