Former Bauchi Federal Constituency lawmaker Aminu Danmaliki announces that he has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) ahead of the 2027 general elections. Speaking at a press briefing, Danmaliki says the decision follows “careful reflection,” consultation, and consideration, and is guided by what he describes as principles rather than political convenience. He adds that he leaves the APC respectfully, without bitterness or malice toward people he worked with.
Danmaliki argues that leadership should respond to challenges affecting ordinary Nigerians, citing economic difficulties including hunger, unemployment, inadequate healthcare, and limited educational opportunities. He says government’s role should be to protect and empower citizens, not worsen their conditions. He describes the PRP as aligned with social justice, accountability, education, affordable healthcare, rural development, and economic opportunity, which he says remain relevant.
He also declares support for Senator Shehu Buba as the PRP candidate for the 2027 Bauchi governorship race, and urges broad participation from groups including youths, women, farmers, artisans, traders, professionals, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
