Actor Ram Kapoor says the fame he gained during his television show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain coincided with what he describes as the worst depression of his life. Speaking on Lock Upp 2, he links the period to rapid weight gain, increasing public attention and ratings success, and deteriorating health. Kapoor says doctors warned him that he could die within six months if he did not make changes. He describes very high sugar levels and insulin use, including that he was taking insulin multiple times a day and his glucose readings were in the hundreds. He also says he kept working long hours, describing shoots lasting around 14 hours.

Kapoor further admits to behaviour he calls unprofessional during that time, including arriving late and drinking on set. He characterizes himself as having become a “monster” and says his actions hurt relationships and contributed to the show ending. He credits his children as a key reason he survived the period, and says he is now happier and apologized to his family for the situation.
