West Bengal Police’s Special Task Force (STF) arrests Arpita Sarkar, a 22-year-old from Jharkhand, as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged terror-related module. Sarkar is described by investigators as the girlfriend of Mohammad Hamim Mondal, a suspected operative who was previously arrested in Burdwan. According to the STF, investigators are probing claims that Mondal and Sarkar planned to create disturbances at Jantar Mantar. The police allege that Mondal received instructions from Pakistani handlers through social media platforms. Authorities also say Sarkar is suspected of involvement in a honey-trap network that targeted influential people, and that she acted on instructions attributed to Hamim. The investigation further focuses on Sarkar’s movements, including frequent travel between Jharkhand and Kolkata, which officials say will be examined to trace links and timelines. Police indicate that the probe is continuing and that additional arrests are possible in the coming days as more information is gathered.
