Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accuses the United Arab Emirates of playing an “active partner” role in what he describes as the US-Israeli war against Iran. Speaking on Thursday, Araghchi also cites Israel’s claim of a “secret” meeting in the UAE involving Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. According to Israel, the meeting took place during the conflict, but Abu Dhabi has denied that such a visit occurred.
The allegations are presented amid heightened tensions in the Gulf and continued disagreements between regional actors over responsibility for attacks and support during the fighting. While Iranian officials describe direct involvement by the UAE, the UAE rejects the accusation that it participates in attacks against Iran. The dispute highlights competing narratives around roles played by different states as the conflict continues to affect regional security calculations.
