The Athletic reports that Tom makes the change public at Sunday’s practice, announcing the new last name. Yahoo Sports also characterizes the move as occurring ahead of the start of the 2026 season.
Alongside the name change, reports indicate the Packers are expected to have the same starting right tackle as they did last season when the team takes the field in September, suggesting Tom’s role on the offensive line is not expected to change.
Yahoo Sports adds that the new surname comes from Tom’s paternal grandparents, who are Nigerian. Sources do not indicate any change in position, contract, or team status beyond the updated name.
