The Philippine National Police (PNP) reports a significant year-on-year decline in “focus crimes” in July 2026 compared with July 2025. In a press briefing at Camp Crame, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. says focus crime incidents fall by 36.12% nationwide, from 3,458 incidents recorded from July 1 to 31, 2025 to 2,209 incidents for the same period in 2026. The PNP describes “focus crimes” as carnapping, homicide, murder, physical injury, rape, robbery, and theft. One outlet also frames the result as an over 36% decrease. The reports indicate the reduction is measured against the previous year’s figures for the same month and that the change covers incidents across the country.
