A 40-year-old psychiatrist, Dr Hemika Agrawal, dies after an alleged suicide in Ghaziabad, police said. She reportedly jumped from her fifth-floor apartment in the Officers City-2 Society in Raj Nagar Extension on Sunday evening. Residents rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead, according to multiple reports.
Agrawal’s family attributes the death to mental health struggles following her divorce. Several outlets report that her family says she had been battling depression and emotional distress since ending her marriage about 18 months earlier. Police state they are investigating all possible angles, including mental health concerns.
Reports also indicate that investigators have not officially recovered a suicide note so far. A forensic team inspects the scene and collects evidence, while police record statements from family members and others connected to the case to determine the sequence of events.
