SDP presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo says the 2023 general election was not a contest between candidates, but between opposition parties and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Speaking on Channels Television programmes, including “Politics Today” and “Sunday Politics,” Adebayo claims he “contested against INEC,” describing INEC as the opponent and saying the election results are “fake.” He characterises the 2023 polls as a “charade” and argues that accepting the official figures would amount to legitimising alleged fraud.

Adebayo also criticises the outcome of the election, saying governance cannot be built on manipulated results. He calls for future elections to reflect genuine competition and expresses hope that the 2027 elections will be different. He urges INEC officials and the police to act neutrally and says no candidate should feel they are “running against the system.”
