A 15-year-old girl is found dead at her home in Hailakandi district, Assam, under circumstances her family describes as rape and murder. According to reports, the incident occurs in the Aloichora area under the Katlicherra police station jurisdiction late on Saturday night. The girl had accompanied her family to a feast at a relative’s house, but relatives say she returned home alone after an argument with a cousin.
When her family returns later that night, they find her lying on the floor with severe injuries. Police and family allegations indicate she suffered extensive trauma, including injuries to her face and head, and authorities are also examining claims that she was sexually assaulted before she was killed. The reports say local residents react with protests, including blocking National Highway 6, demanding swift action.
Police register a case and detain five suspects for questioning. Investigators are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death and to corroborate the allegations.
