Farhan Akhtar is reported to have exited Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming sports drama “Lalkaara,” with Sidhant Gupta set to replace him in the cast. Multiple reports say the change is linked to scheduling conflicts, as Akhtar’s other project involves the life of legendary music composer R.D. Burman, directed by Neeraj Pandey. “Lalkaara” requires significant preparation, including extended cricket training and a long shooting schedule, which reportedly made it difficult for him to balance both commitments.
Despite stepping away from acting in the film, Akhtar is said to remain involved as a producer under Excel Entertainment, in collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani Films. Sidhant Gupta is reported to take on the role of one of Aamir Khan’s close friends. “Lalkaara” is set to reunite Aamir Khan with Gowariker after “Lagaan.” The film is described as being inspired by the historic 1952 India-Pakistan Test series and centers on friendship and sporting rivalry. Principal photography is scheduled to begin on October 1 in Mumbai.
