A Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) jawan, identified as Vikas Lahu Gore, dies after his motorcycle hits a large pothole on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway. Reports say he was travelling on Sunday morning to report for duty when the accident happened near the Bharangi River bridge in Shahapur. Accounts describe him losing control of his bike after striking the pothole, after which he suffers critical injuries. Local residents rush him to the Shahapur sub-district hospital for treatment. He later dies during medical care.
Multiple outlets link the crash to the condition of the highway during the monsoon, citing the presence of dangerous potholes on the route. Free Press Journal adds that Gore is a 31-year-old TDRF member who has been in service since 2019 and had recently been involved in rescue work connected to the Bhiwandi building collapse, before the road accident.
