Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo says President Bola Tinubu has “defeated himself” ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election. Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s “Sunday Politics,” Adebayo argues that the Tinubu administration is effectively already outgoing, saying it is only waiting to complete its four-year term. He links his claim to the government’s performance on issues that he says include poverty, insecurity, and economic conditions. In the interview, Adebayo maintains that these challenges have undermined the role of leadership. He also calls on Nigerians to focus on national issues rather than political personalities as campaigns intensify. Additionally, he says his priority is uniting Nigerians and that the result of the 2027 election will depend partly on voter participation and confidence in the electoral process.
