The Lagos State chapter of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) says Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is the most suitable presidential candidate for the opposition ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. In statements reported by multiple outlets, APM Lagos officials endorse Makinde on the grounds of his governance record, leadership style and performance, rather than political sentiment.

APM Lagos spokesperson Ayodele Kazeem says Makinde’s tenure in Oyo State includes investments across infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and security. The party also points to what it describes as improved fiscal management and economic growth. In addition to achievements, APM Lagos characterises Makinde as a bridge-builder with national acceptability, describing him as having goodwill across party lines and the temperament to unite opposition groups.

The party also outlines plans to mobilise support in Lagos, including strengthening polling-unit structures, expanding volunteer networks, targeting young voters and women, and using digital platforms. APM Lagos says it plans to contribute more than five million votes toward the opposition presidential campaign. The announcement presents the endorsement as issue-based rather than person-focused.
