The Bauchi State Police Command says it has arrested two suspects it alleges are informants linked to a kidnapping attack in Alkaleri Local Government Area. According to the police, the arrests are connected to information the suspects allegedly provided to those carrying out the attack.

The suspects are identified as 18-year-old Idi Riga, from Gwanar Dutse Village, and 22-year-old Murtala Sani, from Rifta Unguwan Jauro Musa in Gobirawo Ward. Police say the arrest took place on August 2, 2026, during operations in the area.

One report also says the kidnapping incident results in a victim being injured and hospitalised, while police continue investigations into the suspects’ roles and any links to the perpetrators. The police have not, in the available reports, provided additional details on the circumstances of the kidnapping, the number of victims involved, or the status of the injured person, but the arrests are presented as part of efforts to disrupt networks supporting kidnapping activities in the state.
