Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo says the “Mondays sit-at-home” observed across Nigeria’s Southeast is over. He made the declaration on Monday while speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026. Soludo said he was delayed by about 15 minutes because he was stuck in traffic in Onitsha, adding that such congestion on a Monday indicates the sit-at-home order is no longer being observed. He noted that the sit-at-home had previously disrupted economic activities across the region. The reporting links the sit-at-home order to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which had declared Mondays as part of its campaign for the actualization of Biafra and the release of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Soludo also said he adjusted his schedule, moving an executive council meeting to the next day or later to attend the summit. The outlets present Soludo’s statements as a response to the disruption and as confirmation that normal Monday activities are now resuming.
