U.S. President Donald Trump says he agrees “100%” with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s assessment that the United States is in decline, but he attributes that downturn to the period when Joe Biden was in office. In a post on Truth Social, Trump says Xi’s comments refer to “the tremendous damage” the U.S. experienced during the four years of the Biden administration, describing Xi’s view as “100 per cent correct.”
Trump also lists what he characterizes as problems from the Biden era, including “open borders,” high taxes, and issues he cites related to social policies and diversity programs, as well as “horrible trade deals” and “rampant crime.” He contrasts that with his own presidency, saying the U.S. has seen an “incredible rise” in the first 16 months of his term. Trump cites record stock market levels and 401(k) balances, as well as claims about military victories and renewed economic strength and jobs.
The reports focus on Trump’s explanation of why he believes Xi’s statement applies to Biden-era policies, rather than providing independent assessment or new evidence of the underlying claims.
