BlackRock is rolling out tokenized access to its money market funds in Europe, bringing blockchain-based share issuance to its flagship cash products. Bloomberg reports that the move applies digital-asset technology to BlackRock’s money market funds, signaling broader efforts by major financial firms to integrate these tools into mainstream finance.
CoinDesk adds that the company is enabling onchain exposure to approximately $311 billion of money market funds in Europe. The platform offers tokenized access to an existing fund structure and also includes a new daily reinvestment stablecoin fund. CoinDesk notes that the expansion follows earlier U.S. developments to BlackRock’s tokenized cash offering, which included onchain shares of an existing fund and a reinvestment-focused stablecoin component.
Across both sources, the central point is that BlackRock is using blockchain to represent or distribute access to money market fund holdings for investors in Europe, extending its tokenized cash initiatives beyond the U.S.
