Reports had suggested that Farhan Akhtar left Aamir Khan’s upcoming film “Lalkaara,” reportedly due to scheduling issues and because he prioritized other projects, including an R D Burman biopic. In response, Akhtar denies that he “exited” the movie. Speaking to Variety India, he says he had never entered the project officially, adding that discussions in an actor’s career do not necessarily translate into signed commitments, and therefore he could not “exit” something he had not formally joined.
The reporting also ties “Lalkaara” to collaboration between Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker, with the film described as based on the 1952 India–Pakistan Test series. While the movie is not presented as officially announced, Akhtar’s denial is accompanied by statements that he is producing “Lalkaara” with Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment. Separately, Akhtar focuses on portraying Pandit Ravi Shankar in “The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event,” and he is also set to play R D Burman in a Neeraj Pandey-directed biopic.
