The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it will move future recruitment to a yearly cycle rather than irregular intervals. Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi made the announcement during a press briefing at the NCS headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday. He said the change is intended to create predictable manpower planning, allowing the service to replace retiring officers more promptly and to provide young Nigerians regular opportunities to apply.
Adeniyi said the NCS is moving away from a model in which applicants had to wait several years between recruitment opportunities. Under the new approach, recruitment is described as a continuous and standing process with annual exercises. He added that the service has developed the systems, screening framework, and verification processes needed to conduct recruitment more efficiently in future cycles.
The Comptroller-General stated that the 2026 recruitment exercise is expected to begin later this year and that the exercise is intended to be completed within a single calendar year, from advertisement through to the final list of successful candidates.
