Oyo State’s Local Government Service Commission issues promotion letters to 1,535 local government employees as part of its 2025 promotion exercise. The promotions cover Grade Levels 06 to 17 and include staff from across the state’s 33 local government areas. According to a commission statement, the beneficiaries are drawn from seven departments within the commission and local governments. The breakdown reported across sources includes: Education and Social Services (431), Works, Housing, Lands and Survey (360), Administration and General Services (288), Finance and Supplies (315), Environmental Health Services (44), Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics (40), and Agriculture and Natural Resources (57).

The commission chairman, Bashorun Akinwole, presents the letters on behalf of the commission and links the exercise to Governor Seyi Makinde’s stated commitment to staff welfare, motivation, and career progression. The chairman also congratulates the promoted officers and encourages them to take on greater responsibility. The commission says it will continue regular promotion exercises, capacity building, and improved welfare packages in line with the “Omituntun 2.0” agenda, while the Nigerian outlet adds that the move demonstrates the administration’s attention to local government staff.
