Jetstar is changing its cabin baggage rules by halving the number of carry-on items customers can bring aboard. The airline moves to a more restrictive items-per-person allowance, meaning travelers will be limited to fewer pieces in addition to other standard in-cabin luggage rules.
Jetstar also plans to introduce a new fee that provides guaranteed access to overhead bins. This means customers who pay will have assured placement options for their items in overhead storage, rather than relying on availability at boarding.
Alongside these changes, Jetstar is increasing the weight allowance for items carried in the cabin. The adjustment is intended to provide more in-cabin weight capacity even as the number of permitted carry-on items decreases and overhead bin certainty becomes a paid option.
The reports agree on the core elements of the update: fewer carry-on pieces allowed, a new charge for guaranteed overhead bin access, and a higher in-cabin weight limit.
