Rotimi Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice presidential candidate, says his party is prepared to do whatever President Bola Tinubu wants them to do “at the field” as campaigning approaches the 2027 general elections. Amaechi made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, framing the statement around an expectation of a contest closer to Election Day. He said Tinubu continues to tell the public he would win the election “at all costs” until the vote is decided, and that Amaechi is “not worried” about what Tinubu may want at that stage, saying, “We will meet at the field.” He also stated that Nigeria “has to be rescued” and criticized what he described as insulting conduct by Tinubu and his men toward his faith. The reports note that Amaechi previously contested the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary against Tinubu in 2022 but lost, later defecting to the ADC. He is paired with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as the ADC’s running mate.
