Moderna has begun the first human clinical trial of its Bundibugyo Ebola vaccine, marking an early step toward evaluating safety and immune response in people. The trial follows Moderna’s development work on a vaccine targeting the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola virus, which is less common than other Ebola variants but has caused outbreaks in the past.
According to Moderna, it is working with partners including CEPI (the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations) and has an agreement that includes plans for wider vaccine availability if the product proves successful. Moderna said it plans to make at least 500,000 doses available to low- and middle-income countries at access pricing under its arrangement with CEPI.
