The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted widespread cloudiness and thunderstorms across the country from Wednesday through Friday.In its weather outlook released in Abuja on Wednesday, NiMet said northern states including Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba and Adamawa would experience morning thunderstorms with moderate rainfall. Later in the day, similar conditions are expected in Kaduna and the entire North-East.For the North-Central region, patches of clouds are forecast with chances of light rains in the morning over the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau and Nasarawa. By afternoon and evening, thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected in Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Niger and other parts of the region.In the South, cloudy skies are anticipated with light rains in the South-South during the morning hours, followed by moderate rainfall later in Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, the South-East and South-South.NiMet’s Thursday forecast indicates thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across much of the North, while the North-Central region will see cloudy conditions with widespread thunderstorms. Moderate rains are also expected in Ondo, the South-East and South-South.On Friday, thunderstorms with rainfall are predicted in Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Taraba during the morning, spreading across the northern region later in the day. The North-Central and southern regions will also experience cloudy skies with prospects of light to moderate rains.The agency warned that strong winds may precede rainfall in areas prone to thunderstorms and advised residents to secure loose objects, avoid driving during heavy downpours, disconnect electrical appliances, and stay away from tall trees.NiMet further urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective planning and encouraged the public to stay updated through its official channels.
