The Indian Medical Association (IMA) urges the Union government to take corrective steps following allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination, including a reported paper leak. In a submission to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the IMA calls for greater accountability and says the examination process should be redesigned to reduce the risk of leaks. The IMA specifically recommends decentralising the conduct of the exam, arguing that the current approach leaves room for vulnerabilities. It also suggests considering online testing as a way to strengthen safeguards and improve the integrity of the selection process.
In addition to process changes, the IMA demands strong legal action. It calls for a CBI investigation into the matter, along with swift arrests where warranted. The IMA also asks for fast-track courts to handle cases related to the leak, aiming to restore public confidence in the NEET selection system for medical aspirants. Both reports describe the IMA’s concern over the irregularities and its position that administrative reforms and enforcement measures should be pursued together.
