Paramount+ is set to premiere “The Varnell Hill Show,” a spinoff of “Martin,” with the streaming service releasing first-look images. The season launches with two episodes on that date, followed by one new episode each Tuesday night through October 13.
The series stars Tommy Davidson, who reprises his “Martin” character, the talk-show host Varnell Hill, in a new workplace comedy described as a half-hour series. The production is executive produced by Martin Lawrence and Bentley Kyle Evans, and both outlets note its earlier development under BET+.
Deadline adds that “The Varnell Hill Show” was originally ordered by BET+, and that BET+ was later phased out, with the project continuing at Paramount+. Variety similarly frames the spinoff’s move to Paramount+ and highlights Davidson’s return nearly three decades after he first appeared as the character on “Martin.”
