An untitled documentary about “Gilmore Girls” is in production and planned for release on HBO Max, multiple outlets report. The series ran from 2000 to 2007 and remains centered on Stars Hollow’s Gilmore family. Warner Bros. Television is developing the project, described as drawing on material connected to the show’s creators and cast.
The documentary is set to include participation from series star Lauren Graham. It also features involvement from series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, whose perspective is highlighted in one description of the film. Amy Sherman-Palladino’s husband and executive producer, Daniel Palladino, is also referenced as part of the project. Variety also points to the use of never-before-seen footage as part of the documentary’s planned content.
Deadline names Bonni Cohen, who is set to direct or lead the documentary, and identifies her as associated with the film “In Waves and War” and “Athlete A.” TVLine similarly reports that the documentary is coming to HBO Max with Graham and the Palladinos on board as participants.
