The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reports that the value of the country’s agricultural and fisheries production rebounds in the second quarter after an early-year slowdown. In April to June, production grows 2.9% year-on-year to P452.22 billion, according to the PSA. The increase comes from stronger output across several subsectors, including crops, livestock, poultry, and fisheries. Crops make up the largest share of total agriculture and fisheries production, accounting for 55% of the total. Crop production value rises 1.6% year-on-year to P248.9 billion. The PSA also attributes the overall improvement to gains in livestock and other areas, with multiple sources noting that livestock value increases during the quarter. Overall, the data indicate recovery in agricultural output during the Apr-Jun period compared with the same quarter in the previous year. The PSA’s figures are presented as the monetary value of production, reflecting changes in output performance by sector rather than volume alone.
