Bitwarden, the password-manager company, is making quiet changes to both its leadership and website messaging. Multiple outlets report that CEO Michael Crandell moves to an advisory role in February without a company announcement, according to his LinkedIn. He is replaced by Michael Sullivan, a former CEO of Acquia and Insightsoftware. Bitwarden’s CFO, Stephen Morrison, also leaves in April, with Michael Shenkman, previously CEO of InVision, taking over. Kyle Spearrin, the company’s founder and CTO, remains in his role.

At the same time, Bitwarden updates elements of its website. The personal password manager page no longer prominently includes the phrase “Always free,” and the “Pick a plan” section removed mentions of the free plan, though the free option remains listed elsewhere. In addition, Bitwarden stops featuring “Inclusion” and “Transparency” as tentpole values on its careers page. Its GRIT values change from “Gratitude, Responsibility, Inclusion, and Transparency” to “Gratitude, Responsibility, Innovation, and Trust,” with “inclusive environment” and “transparency” still appearing under separate headings. These updates follow Bitwarden’s February Premium price increase, announced through renewal reminder emails rather than a dedicated customer notification, and the company has not issued news releases about the leadership or values changes.
