A youth in Singapore receives a one-year probation sentence after making an online post that authorities treated as communicating false information about bombing a Scoot aircraft. According to reports, the 19-year-old—later described as 20—wrote that he was about to bomb one of Scoot’s planes. The remark led to disruptions at Changi Airport, with three Scoot flights departing late. Each of the three flights is reported to have been delayed for more than an hour, contributing to a combined operational loss of nearly $2,000 for the airline. The defendant later pleads guilty to one count of communicating false information. After the case, he makes full restitution to Scoot. The probation order is issued after the guilty plea and is set for one year, reflecting the court’s handling of the offence as a criminal act despite being presented as a “joke.”
