Nintendo reports that the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 23.68 million consoles since its June 2025 launch, surpassing the GameCube’s lifetime total of 21.74 million. In the first quarter of FY2027 (April 1 to June 30, 2026), Nintendo sold 3.82 million Switch 2 units, down from 5.82 million in the same period a year earlier. Nintendo says the adoption rate remains “solid” and that the year-over-year decline reflects strong initial demand at the 2025 launch and a price increase that took effect in Japan earlier in 2026.

On the financial side, Nintendo’s operating profit rises 150.5% for the quarter, supported by higher software revenue and $300 million in U.S. tariff refunds that Nintendo says will not be passed on to consumers. Nintendo also provides software updates: Switch 2 games include Mario Kart World (15.39 million sold), Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (7.96 million), Kirby Air Riders (1.9 million), and Super Mario Party Jamboree (1.15 million). Nintendo also reports continued Switch 1 performance and says digital sales account for 61.5% of sales, up about 2% year over year.
